The Executive MBA programme brings together two institutes within Europe, Birmingham College, United Kingdom with JIBS (Jönköping International Business School), Sweden, with experts, faculty staff and inspirational speakers.
The Executive MBA programme offers personal development and practical knowledge, equipping leaders, board members, corporate managers and professionals, with leadership and entrepreneurial skills, and a network of business contacts in Asia and the western world..
The Executive MBA has the following objectives:
- To offer an adequate understanding of organizations in an internationally competitive, corporate environment;
- To develop entrepreneurial, executive and managerial skills, together with a capacity for self-improvement;
- To develop the ability to create a leadership vision;
- To promote an intense exchange of experiences among participants;

The Executive MBA will help you to acquire skills and techniques of leadership and to build your self-confidence, intellectual assets, decision-making abilities and cultivate team-based approaches, necessary for tomorrow’s issues and challenges.
To lead others, first you must know yourself and align personal vision to corporate strategy to realise entrepreneurial potential.
On completion of the course you will receive the prestigious Executive Master of Business Administration award from Jönköping International Business School (JIBs), Jönköping University, Sweden.
Jönköping University is a state-funded university, fully accredited university by the Swedish Government and its qualifications are recognised worldwide.

- The MBA programme is a taught programme (not distance learning / online learning supported by tutor).
- Modules are specifically designed & developed by renowned professors, entrepreneurs and professionals for Birmingham College. The course is designed in collaboration with industry professionals.
- Modules are delivered by established professors with many years teaching and research experience at university level. Some modules are delivered by suitably qualified management consultants and experts with significant experience.
- 100 pages lecture / case study notes, handouts and materials developed for each module, allocated to each participant portfolio during the year.
- The programme enables you to demonstrate a high level of strategic and analytical ability, develop your leadership qualities and provide you with a multi-disciplinary perspective which will help you clarify complex business issues.

The Executive MBA program offers highly experienced faculty, practitioners and lecturers, ranked amongst the most experienced in the world, who are committed to discuss the most recent concepts and managerial theories in a practical manner, to an experienced group of participants from diverse corporate backgrounds.
Added to the experienced faculty, the high quality learning experience is a result of teaching methodology that uses didactic-pedagogical techniques such as participative methods and simulations, in-class exercises and teamwork.
The additional experience offered by the international trips allows the participants to further compare countries and regions, offering a better understanding of the peculiarities and influences of different cultures on markets and organizations.
This programme is intended for chair persons, directors, managers, senior officials and individual professionals, from an industry, business and/or professional backgrounds who have the authority and personal inspiration to translate organisational strategy into effective operational performance.
It is equally valuable for the person who aspires to such a role, by helping them to gain the knowledge and understanding necessary to carry out that role.
Option 1 - Delivery in Home country
Six consecutive days of 20th to 25th October 08, 15th to 20th December 08, 16th to 21st February 09, 20th to 25th April 09, 22nd to 27th June 09, 17th to 22nd August 09.
Duration:12 to 18 months, however, if participants fail to complete a course requirement, completion of the program may take a longer.
Option 2 - Delivery in the UK:
The Programme will be delivered over three consecutive weeks every year in the UK. Participants will be invited to study in the UK. Year One: 1st May to 21st May (three modules delivered) Year Two: 1st May to 21st May (three modules delivered) Final Year: 1st May to 21st May (project thesis presentation & award ceremony in Sweden / UK)
Duration: 3 years part-time, however, if participants fail to complete a course requirement, completion of the program may take a longer.
• Participants have the option to mix the two options for individual suitability.

- A Bachelor degree with three years of documented experience desirable or
- A Diploma with minimum six years of documented experience or
- A Professional or vocational qualification with minimum eight years of experience on qualified managerial level. Evaluations have to be made on individual basis or
- An Individual having outstanding achievements e.g. entrepreneurship or business development, industrial background, government & non-government activities. Evaluations have to be made on individual basis.
- Two letters of recommendation. At least one should be from a business source attesting to the applicant's performance in a work situation. The other one should attest to the applicant's academic achievement. (If a long time has elapsed since meeting the educational requirement, the applicant may use another reference source.)
- Interview with eligible candidates
The disciplines are delivered in a logical sequence that offer to participants the opportunity to have a strategic vision of business and to develop the managerial ability during the initial phases of the program, followed by a process of applied synthesis for personal and professional development.
The Executive MBA includes 6 core modules with a compulsory Business Project Thesis
• Leadership and Human Resources (Core Module 7.5 ECTS)
This module seeks to develop participants’ depth of leadership knowledge of self-development e.g. 360 degree feedback, inter-personal and team-work skills to drive change. It explores the intricacies of Human Resource Management and its relationship to corporate strategy, eliciting high commitment and productivity from staff. It includes executive, policy and strategic issues relating to employee resourcing, retention and performance management, drawing on best practice, innovative HR models and approaches.
• Strategic Marketing (Core Module 7.5 ECTS)
The challenges of global competition, rapidly changing technology, new consumer needs and shifting demographics, have necessitated the development of strategic marketing skills if companies are to grow. The role of strategic marketing is explored and how high value-adding strategy is implemented by multinational companies from planning to practice. It emphasises how the assets of companies can be used to create value propositions for customers and shareholders. Participants will develop opportunity-recognition skills to identify trends to understand the markets unfolding around them. Success will be determined by the ability to perceive and understand strategic markets within the global market place.
• Global Business Strategy (Core Module 7.5 ECTS)
Investigate global business frameworks that act as overall guide to strategy formulation and help broaden the individual’s, knowledge and imagination on multinational management issues. MNCs/DFI opportunities will be explored using case studies and trend analysis. Provide a basis for understanding and evaluating both, the economic and organisational implications of strategic decision-making in the multinational environment.
• International Finance Management (Core Module 7.5 ECTS)
The module is designed to develop participants’ international understanding of financial management through the interpretation, use, and analysis of strategic financial information. It presents an analytical treatment of, and develops an understanding of the core decisions of corporate financial management. The relationship between firms and international capital markets are examined to provide an understanding of the theories e.g. IIP, PPP and IFE, and evidence-base policy relating to foreign exchange markets. Participants will appreciate an analysis of the economic, business and political risks of firms operating in an international context.
• International Entrepreneurship (Core Module 7.5 ECTS)
The aim of this module is to introduce participants to entrepreneurship perspectives including international theories, principles and concepts, and the practices of starting a new venture through entrepreneurial development in a global economy. The emphasis will be on opportunity to develop an awareness and understanding of the role played by entrepreneurs in the modern business world in different countries and institutional environments e.g. economic, political, cultural and social. For example, on mergers and acquisitions, franchising and entrepreneurial ventures within global business environment, as firms enter new markets, exploit endowed assets and augment their resource.
• Business Research Methods (Core Module 7.5 ECTS)
This module is provided to develop students so that they can use the quantitative techniques that are essential for successful business management. To this end, the module encompasses all aspects of business research including the numerical foundations needed in business; introductory statistics; data collection techniques including data from secondary sources; and analysing and presenting primary or secondary data from business sources in the service sector industries.
• Operations Management (Optional Module 7.5 ECTS)
Develops board-level skills for the direction and scope of the company, by focusing on the role of operations leadership within competitive organisations to ensure customer requirements and expectations are exceeded whilst achieving lower operating costs through diagnostic frameworks for operational and organisational analysis for example, process flow analysis, inventory management, capacity planning new product and service development; location and layout; inventory systems, JIT and MRP; total quality management (TQM).
• A Comprehensive Project Thesis / Research Project
This module is provided to develop students so that they can use the quantitative techniques that are essential for successful business management. To this end, the module encompasses all aspects of business research including the numerical foundations needed in business; introductory statistics; data collection techniques including data from secondary sources; and analysing and presenting primary or secondary data from business sources in the service sector industries.
As a participant on the Executive MBA program you will be expected to develop a high level of expertise in a particular area of individual interests and objectives. You will select an area of specialization, with the support and approval of your professors and the director of the MBA program.
After you complete most of your courses you will be encouraged to select a specialization in the field of business finance, industry, or a case study of a firm operating in China. After selecting an area of specialization, you will collect and study specific information and readings related to your area of interest.
The post course project, research paper, and internship you select should focus on your designated area of specialization to help further develop your knowledge and expertise. The findings and results of your research project will be documented in a final, comprehensive MBA project report that will be completed during the final courses of th Executive MBA program.
The project will require a formal presentation to the class in order to increase the overall knowledge of all participants in the Executive MBA program. Industry experts may be present during the presentation to evaluate your research project.
The course is assessed internally through a variety of assignments linked to each module, individual and group presentations and project thesis. Participants will be assessed on a continuous basis.
Tutorial support is available throughout the course duration by local distinguished professors / senior lecturers. The support available over the phone, emails or face to face meeting.
Subject to availability, in addition to the Executive MBA, where possible we will endeavour to deliver extra workshops / seminars/ mini conferences on contemporary management aspects issues. For example

Building a strong brand identity and create a following is crucial in attracting customers in today’s globalised and fast-moving markets. In this seminar the participants will learn how a strong brand can be constructed and what it takes to build brand identity.

Companies operating on global markets are often expected to communicate in English, and this seminar gives a thorough introduction to business English, from the perspective of managers in their daily meetings with customers, suppliers, governments and others.

• Import-Export and Emerging Markets in the UK and Europe
• Effective Marketing of Foreign Products in the UK and Europe.
• Franchises / Business Partnerships / Acquisition – UK and Europe
The three country package is an option in addition to the Executive MBA programme and subject to visa approval from individual country. Please note there is an additional cost and is not included in the tuition fees. Courses are integrated across the partner institutes providing students with a true global perspective
