On completion of the course you will receive the prestigious BSc (Hons) in Business and Management degree from Edge Hill University.

The Business and Management programme is a keystone degree in Edge Hill Business School. It will help you understand the wide-ranging issues organisations encounter and offer the opportunity to critically explore management issues using theoretical concepts.
The programme looks at small to multi-national organisations across a range of sectors. A key feature of the programme is the work related element, providing opportunities to apply skills and knowledge to real situations.
Full support will be provided to help you get the most from your learning experience. You will be assigned a personal tutor and there is a range of other support options available. Extensive use is made of information technology to support classroom activities.
A critical part of the degree is the development of skills. Organisations are looking for more than just subject knowledge when they recruit; we will help develop you as a communicator, team worker and leader to complement your knowledge growth. You will also be helped to gain practical experience of the workplace so that you leave us with an enhanced CV.
As well as preparing for and attending lectures, seminars, tutorials and workshops, you will spend time reading and completing coursework, including written assignments, portfolios, presentations and poster and video production. Working with business is a strong theme of the programme and the workplace will be brought into your study as well as you having the opportunity to go out into the workplace.
The programme combines academic activity to give you valuable skills recognised by employers. It provides you with a thorough grounding in a range of business functions and introduces you to the environment in which organizations operate.
The first year programme enables international students to develop English Language skills as necessary for academic study; to critically analyse Subject/Discipline knowledge and understanding; to identify and understand cultural differences in the context of Higher Education study; to successfully prepare for study through the acquisition of academic skills and research methods; to become independent, reflective learners; to develop an effective self-management and personal awareness regime that demonstrates not only their understanding and knowledge but also their motivation, flexibility and creativity; to make informed decisions regarding further HE study.
In Year 2, you will study core modules which will give you a foundation for years 3 and 4. These cover an introduction to management and organisations, accounting, law, economics and information systems. You will also be given opportunities to develop a range of personal skills.
Year 3 will enhance your core knowledge as you follow a designated specialist route or choose a combination which meets your interests. These cover Marketing, Human Resource Management, Managing People, International Business, Global Corporate Social Responsibility, Financial Management and Control, Services Marketing etc.
In the forth, you will study strategic management. This looks at the way organisations make decisions and builds on your earlier study of business functions. You will also have further opportunity to follow your specialist interests and undertake a dissertation.
The first 2 years of the course will be delivered at Birmingham College and the remaining two years will be delivered at Edge Hill University.
Year 1 & 2 will be delivered by Birmingham College staff and Year 3 & 4 will be delivered by Edge Hill university staff. All our staff are passionate about student learning and development. The degree is delivered by specialists in Accountancy, Marketing, Human Resource Management, E-Commerce and Small and Medium Sized Enterprises, among others. The team includes active researchers who publish in academic journals, and academically and professionally qualified staff. All team members are people with an energy and enthusiasm for their subject areas.
Throughout the programme, there is a combination of different forms of assessment to test intellectual development, vocational capability, and critical thinking. Coursework often involves both individual and group-based working. Case studies and problem solving exercises are used. Examinations take a variety of forms, using both seen and unseen questions.
The fee for the first year is £6500 and £7300 each year for the remaining three years.
A degree in Business and Management equips you for a range of career opportunities in both general management and the specialist function. Typical graduate careers include accountancy, administration, banking, education, finance, human resource management, marketing, public and private sector management, retailing and enterprise.
There is also the opportunity for further study of either a PGCE in Business Education or an MA / MSc in Management. There is a possibility of joining the MBA programme if you have some experiences.
